This class series is a great way to get creative and let your inhibitions go. You will talk about glass safety, learn how to nip and shape stained glass pieces, and glue them onto the clear glass. The class series will finish with grouting your glass art into a window you can hang and enjoy! Be prepared for small class sizes and to work alongside someone you might not know. The best part of class is learning from our peers and watching each other grow in this experience.
Session one: Class will start with some discussion from our artist Katie but then we will actively jump into making a teaser glass ornament. This small project is a great way to try out class nipping and design techniques. You will take your piece home after class and this will remain a grout less piece. At the end of class you will know the size of project 2 and will have time to brain storm your project before coming back.
Session two: Now that you got the glass bug you’ll return to session two to mosaic a larger window. We will keep it a manageable size to complete in two hours but come prepared to work! Your piece will need about a week to dry before it can be finished in session three.
Session three: We will finish your mosaic by grouting it with white grout. This is a putzy process so there will be time for us to discuss what you can mosaic on your own after this class now that you have learned this new skill. (Think flower pots or your kitchen backsplash!) You will leave confident about a new skill, energized to have made something with YOUR two hands and will have spent time with other community members you can now say Hi to when you pass them in the grocery store!
Session 1: September 29th | 6:00-7:00
Session 2: October 12th | 6:00-7:00
All classes will be at Katie’s studio in the back of Cactus Blossom Collective.
